Two-time Grand National winner Tiger Roll will compete for a historic victory in April.
Trainer Gordon Elliott states the nine-year-old will contest two races at the New Year before coming to Aintree.
Jockey Davy Russell will, partners again by winning Nationals, tiger Roll, who emulated Red Rum.
Although the intention is not to race during this season, He’s also being readied for a bid to win a fifth Cheltenham Festival.
“We are going to need to mind him today and select and pick where people go,” Elliott said in an interview using Aintree Racecourse.
“He will likely have one run over hurdles, maybe something like the Boyne Hurdle [at Navan in February] again.
“He will return into Cheltenham [in March] for the Cross Country race then we’ll go to your Randox Health Grand National.”
BBC Horse Racing correspondent, cornelius Lysaght:
That isn’t any shock – could team and owner Michael O’Leary resist pursuing such a precious piece of history? But there’d been some rumblings about the horse becoming weight.
Obviously, he’ll get lots but, at Aintree, this horse thrives such as Red Rum, which makes as he dances around them, the famous obstacles seem easy.
And if those of us who grew up seeing’Rummy’ in the 1970s will always consider him you have to be a certain age thus a new legend is good to keep him at all.
